KIMO is an international environmental organization and a network of municipalities working to protect the marine environment and reduce pollution in coastal and marine areas. Founded in Denmark in 1990, the organization today represent municipalities and coastal communities across several European countries.
KIMO works on issues including marine litter, plastic pollution, ghost nets, offshore-related environmental impacts, and the sustainable management of coastal and marine environments. The organization also serves as an international platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and policy advocacy on marine environmental issues.
Through projects, research, and collaboration with public authorities, organizations, and local stakeholders, KIMO works to strengthen the protection of the marine environment and promote more sustainable solutions for Europe’s coastal communities.
