Ajour

Dec 5, 2024 | Event

Last week, Ocean Plastic Forum participated in this year’s business conference, Ajour 2024, which once again gathered a record number of attendees.

Ajour is a key event for marine engineers and others interested in leadership and technological innovation – a forum where future challenges are discussed, and solutions are created.

This year, our Secretariat Manager, Thomas Alstrup, gave a presentation alongside Thomas Drustrup from the Plastics Industry Association. They highlighted our project in the Chennai province of India, a prime example of a circular solution where collected plastic waste from the region is repurposed into the production of big bags.

The discussion also touched on the future use of plastics and how we can tackle plastic challenges through innovation and technical solutions. Marine engineers’ unique skills can play a crucial role in this transition.

The topic attracted significant interest, clearly demonstrating that the future of plastics is high on the agenda for many participants. We had many engaging conversations at our stand, where we also showcased examples of what recycled plastic can be used for – from functional and well-designed products to solutions that support a more circular economy.

Ajour 2024 once again emphasized that collaboration and technological innovation are essential if we are to create a future where ocean plastic is no longer just waste – but a valuable resource.

A big thank you to the Danish Association of Marine Engineers for the invitation. And thank you to all the participants for the great discussions – we look forward to continuing the dialogue on how we can collectively create solutions that benefit both the environment and the industry.

See you at next year’s Ajour!
