On the 20th of September, we hosted the second edition of our Øresund Days 2025 on World Cleanup Day – this time with activities taking place in Copenhagen Habour and Gilleleje Harbour.
At Norde Toldbod, divers explored the shipwreck Indfødsretten, marine litter was collected from the harbour floor, and we livestreamed a ghostnet retrieval operation from Gilleleje. Visitors had the opportunity to experience underwater activities up close, follow live transmissions, and learn more about our work mapping and removing litter in Øresund. Our mediateam also conducted interviews and vox pops throughout the day.
The event was carried out in collaboration with the Danish Sports Diving Federation, Os Om Havet, and several local diving clubs. The day also received strong media coverage, including features on P4 Copenhagen and TV2 News.
Øresunds Day 2025 – held on 8th of June and 20th of September – were part of our Ghosts of the Sea project, where we map and remove lost or abandoned fishing gear in the Marine Nature Reserve Øresund.
The events were sponsored by Codan Fonden and highlighted the hidden plastic pollution beneath the surface, as well as the many volunteers and partners wokring to protect our marine environment.
